The difference is where the coins land. Many instant exchanges pay Zcash to a transparent address, which puts the amount and the destination on a public chain and leaves you to shield the coins yourself. Wagyu decodes your address and pays its shielded part directly.

Where your ZEC lands

  • Shielded address (u1… or zs1…): private, nothing about the payout is visible on chain. Most Zcash wallets give you a u1 address. This is the default.
  • Transparent address (t1…): visible on chain. Use it only if your wallet or exchange gives you a t1 address.
  • tex1… addresses cannot receive a Wagyu payout. Use your own wallet address, then send on from there.
  • Need a shielded address? Zodl, Ywallet, Zingo and the Ledger Zcash Shielded app all give you a u1 address.

How a Zcash swap works

  1. Pick the route and the amount. The quote shows the rate, the Wagyu fee for this route, the other costs and the ZEC you can expect. If the amount is under the route minimum, the quote tells you.
  2. Paste your Zcash address and a refund address. The refund address is where your deposit goes back if the swap cannot run.
  3. Send the exact amount to the deposit address. Send from any wallet or exchange withdrawal; there is nothing to connect. Screening runs on the deposit before the swap.
  4. Follow the order page. It shows each stage: confirming, routing, trading, sending. The ZEC goes to your address and nothing stays on Wagyu.

Fees, minimums and timing

  • Fee. Swaps into Zcash pay a 2% Wagyu fee, swaps from Zcash to Bitcoin or USDT pay 0%, and Zcash to Monero pays 2%. The quote for your amount shows the fee that applies, and the routing, trading and network costs, before you send.
  • Minimum. About $20 to $40 depending on the route. The table shows each one.
  • Time. Typically about 10 to 12 minutes, and about 20 minutes when Bitcoin is on either side, because of Bitcoin confirmations. Large orders are executed in slices to protect the rate and take longer by design.
  • Estimate, not a floor. The deposit amount is exact; the final output can move with the market during execution.

Swapping ZEC out

Going the other way works the same. Send ZEC from any wallet, shielded or transparent, to the deposit address of your order, and receive Bitcoin, USDT or Monero at your address. Give a Zcash refund address when you create the order: a shielded deposit has no visible origin to send funds back to.

What Wagyu does not do

  • No card or bank payments. Wagyu swaps crypto for crypto.
  • No Lightning. Bitcoin deposits are on-chain only.
  • No custody. There is no account balance: each order is swapped and sent, or refunded.
  • No fixed output. The quote is an estimate and the market moves during execution.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need an account or KYC to swap to Zcash?

No. There is no account, no email and no identity check. Screening runs on the deposit before the swap, and a deposit that fails screening is refunded, not held. The rules are in the compliance policy.

Will my ZEC be shielded?

Yes, when your address has a shielded part, which is the case for the u1 addresses most Zcash wallets give you and for zs1 addresses. Transparent t1 addresses work too. tex1 addresses are refused.

What does a Zcash swap cost?

Swaps into Zcash pay a 2% Wagyu fee, Zcash to Bitcoin or USDT 0%, and Zcash to Monero 2%. The quote shows every cost before you send, and the route table above shows the current fee of each route.

How long does it take?
